Syria-Mirror learned from a private source that a new Russian military campaign is about to begin in the countryside of Latakia province in order to achieve full control over the towns and villages of Turkman and Akrad Mountains.

Regime forces, along with local and foreign militias had, with the help of Russian warplanes, started a campaign months ago, in which they managed to capture scores of towns and villages in those areas.

Our source, who prefered not to be named, told us that about 700 Russian fighters came to the area on the 12th of Jan and participated in the battles alongside regime forces and militias.

The source confirmed that the aforementioned battles were run be Russian officers, and fought by dozens of highly-trained fighters, however, when regime forces and its local and foreign militias failed to resolve the battle for regime's advantage, Russian officers were forces to bring 700 Russian fully-armed fighters and put them in the battles.

Russian land force, with regime forces help, captured the strategic town of Salma along with other towns and villages in the Turkman and Akrad mountains.

On Saturday 23rd Jan, Russian TV, broadcasted a report that confirms what our source had told us. The report included a footage that shows a number of Fully-geared Russian fighters inside the town of Salma.

Our source also pointed out that an advanced command center was established in Ba'mareen town, that includes only Russian officers, add to that arm depots, fuel, and ammunition, in Talla village and medical points in Hakro and Kfarya villages.
